Materials

Recycled Cashmere

We love recycled fabrics. Not only do they use significantly less water, electricity, chemicals, and carbon, but they also use waste, rather than creating it. Our recycled cashmere is made in Italy and certified by the Global Recycled Standard. Our yarn is blended with cotton or wool to add strength. All our cashmere yarns are made to the highest standard, while protecting workers’ rights.

Recycled Nylon

Our recycled nylon is certified by the Global Recycled Standard. We use recycled pre-consumer nylon in our super comfortable leggings and several of our compact stretch sweater styles. Recycled nylon is mixed with regular nylon to maximize the material quality and strength. We love recycled nylon as it uses waste, rather than creating it, and has lower water, chemical, and energy consumption.

G O T S Certified

Our cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS is the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. This means that all cotton yarns must contain a minimum of 95% organic cotton and cannot be treated with chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, or other toxic chemicals and metals. Additionally, strict social standards must also be adhered to, ensuring that working conditions are safe and hygienic, and that fair living wages are paid to employees.

Merino Wool

Where possible, we prefer to design using natural fabrics. We are especially fond of the softness and drape of merino wool. Merino wool is natural, renewable, and biodegradable. All our wool is woven in Italy where our mill goes to extreme measures to ensure minimal environmental impact. Not only do they reuse 50% of their water, purifying 2,300 cubic meters of water per day, but they also use solar panels to provide energy to the entire factory. Our wool is sourced from carefully selected farms in Tasmania, where all sheep are treated humanely, with love. Our wool is certified by OEKO-TEX, the Responsible Wool Standard and Organica Precious Fiber.

What's Next?

Carbon off-set, consolidated shipments, certifying our factories – we still have so much more to do…

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is much better for people, animals and the environment. In the production of organic cotton, toxic chemicals and GMOs are strictly prohibited. This is better for our soil, our air, and our water supply. Conversely, conventional cotton uses approximately 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of the world’s pesticides. Currently only 1% of the world’s annual production of cotton is organic. By purchasing organic cotton, you increase the demand for improved methods of cotton farming.

Packaging

We are consistently working to make our packaging more sustainable. Currently almost all of our packaging to our direct consumer is made from recycled paper. However, we still have work to do in terms of packaging between our mills and factories . Watch this space.

Vintage

In an ideal world our entire collection would be entirely comprised of vintage, as reusing old garments is truly sustainable. Failing that we try to style each collection with as much vintage as possible and have sourced rare pieces from Paris that are sold on our website and through selected speciality stores.

Labels & Buttons

All our labels are made from recycled polyester, our hangtags from recycled paper, and our security seals from recycled plastic. Our buttons are beautifully carved from corozo nuts, that grow on corozo palm trees native to Central America. Corozo buttons are natural, durable, and biodegradable, making them the most sustainable button choice.
